Find out how Low Cost Skips Scotland recycles and diverts waste from landfill.
At Low Cost Skips Scotland, we're committed to responsible waste management. Here's how we ensure your waste is handled as sustainably as possible.
Our Recycling Commitment
When we collect your skip, the waste goes to a licensed transfer station where it's carefully sorted. Our aim is to divert as much material as possible away from landfill.
What Gets Recycled?
Metal: Steel, aluminium and other metals are 100% recyclable and are sorted out for recycling.
Timber: Clean timber is chipped for biomass energy or recycled into other wood products.
Concrete and Masonry: Crushed and recycled as hardcore aggregate for construction projects.
Cardboard and Paper: Baled and sent to paper recycling facilities.
Plastics: Sorted by type and recycled where possible.
Green Waste: Composted and used as soil conditioner or biomass fuel.
What Goes to Landfill?
Unfortunately, some materials cannot currently be economically recycled:
- Mixed waste contaminated with food
- Certain composite materials
- Non-recyclable plastics
How You Can Help Us Recycle More
The more you separate your waste at source, the more we can recycle:
- Keep garden waste separate from general rubbish
- Don't mix food waste with construction materials
- Remove batteries and electronics before putting items in the skip
Duty of Care
In Scotland, the duty of care legislation requires all businesses producing waste to ensure it is dealt with responsibly. By using Low Cost Skips Scotland, a fully licensed waste carrier, you fulfil your legal duty of care.
Waste Transfer Notes
For commercial customers, we provide waste transfer notes as required by law. These document the waste type, quantity, and how it was disposed of.
