Everything you need to know about skip hire in Scotland, answered in one comprehensive FAQ.

We've compiled the most frequently asked questions about skip hire in Scotland. If your question isn't here, call us on 01324321043 and we'll be happy to help.

1. How long can I keep a skip?

Standard hire periods are 7-14 days. If you need longer, just call us and we can usually extend — just ask in advance.

2. Can I put soil in a skip?

Yes, but soil is very heavy. We recommend a smaller skip specifically for soil and heavy materials.

3. Do I need to be home for delivery?

Not necessarily — as long as we know exactly where to put the skip. Leave clear instructions when booking.

4. What if my skip is full before I'm done?

Call us on 01324321043 and we'll arrange to swap the skip or deliver an additional one.

5. Can I move a skip once it's been delivered?

No — once in position, skips should stay put. If repositioning is needed, contact us and we'll do it safely with the right equipment.

6. What happens to the waste?

All waste goes to licensed transfer stations where it's sorted and as much as possible is recycled.

7. Are there weight limits?

Yes — each skip size has a maximum weight. Overloading risks being refused collection. Particularly relevant for soil and rubble.

8. Can skips go on grass?

Technically yes, but skips are very heavy and will damage grass and soft ground. Wooden boards can help protect the surface.

9. How quickly can I get a skip?

We offer next-day delivery across most of Scotland, and same-day in many areas. Call 01324321043 to check availability.

10. Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes — we offer monthly accounts for businesses and contractors. Call for details.

11. What sizes do you offer?

2 yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, 12 yard, 14 yard, and 16 yard skips.

12. Do I need a licence to hire a skip?

No licence is required for the customer. We are fully licensed waste carriers.

13. Can the skip go on the pavement?

With a council permit, yes. Without a permit, the skip must stay on private land.

14. What are the permit costs?

Council permit fees vary by area. We can apply for the permit on your behalf.

15. Can I overfill the skip?

No — waste must not protrude above the skip's sides. An overfilled skip is illegal to transport and a safety hazard.

16. What about fridges and freezers?

These cannot go in skips. Contact your local council for free fridge/freezer collection.

17. Is VAT included in the price?

Yes, all our prices include VAT.

18. Do you cover all of Scotland?

We cover central Scotland and much of the country. Call 01324321043 to check coverage for your area.

19. What if I cancel my skip?

Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel. Cancellations made with 24+ hours notice are free of charge.

20. How do I book?

Simply call 01324321043. Our friendly team will take your details, confirm the size and date, and give you a firm price.
