Make the most of your skip hire with these insider tips from Scotland's skip hire experts.
Whether it's your first time hiring a skip or your tenth, these tips will help you get the most out of your hire.
1. Measure Your Access
Before ordering a skip, measure your driveway or access point. Skips are delivered by lorry — make sure there's enough width and height (watch for overhead cables and trees).
2. Book in Advance for Best Availability
While we offer same-day delivery, booking ahead guarantees you get the skip you want when you want it.
3. Have Your Payment Ready
We'll take payment at time of booking. Have a card or bank details ready.
4. Protect Your Driveway
Heavy skips can mark surfaces. We can place boards under the skip to protect your driveway — just ask when booking.
5. Think About Your Neighbours
If the skip needs to go on the road, let your neighbours know. They'll appreciate the heads-up.
6. Load the Heavy Stuff First
Bricks, soil and rubble should go in first. They sit at the bottom and allow lighter materials to be packed on top.
7. Use Every Inch of Space
Fill gaps with smaller items. Every wasted cubic foot is money down the drain.
8. Don't Overfill
The fill line is the top of the skip — not above it. Overfilling is illegal and unsafe.
9. Keep the Area Around the Skip Clear
Don't block the skip with cars or equipment. We need clear access to collect it.
10. Call if You Have Questions
